Steve Miller to Honor Warren Haynes at 2019 Music Will Benefit Concert

Warren Haynes is one of the most celebrated, legendary guitar pros on the road, and on Oct. 10, the Gov’t Mule co-founder is being saluted by Music Will at a benefit concert in New York’s Playstation Theater. Steve Miller, another guitar-slinging road warrior (and a past Music Will honoree), will be on hand to present him with the honor, as will fellow 2019 honorees Usher and Wiz Khalifa.

The nonprofit, which provides free music education and instruments to public schools across America, has served more than 850,000 students since 2002.

“Music education is something extremely important to me since being able to play and make music has allowed me to achieve many of my dreams. Knowing that many children are denied that opportunity due to the scarcity of music programs and teachers due to lack of funding is heartbreaking,” Haynes tells Billboard. “Music Wills helps remove the barriers standing between many students and their dreams of being able to learn about and play music.”

Hot off their new live album/film Bring On The Music – Live at The Capitol Theater, Gov’t Mule are prepping for their annual New Year’s concerts, starting with a Dec. 27 show at Philadelphia’s The Met and including Dec. 30-31 dates at New York City’s Beacon Theater, with Allman Betts Band opening.
